A North-east painting and decorating firm has recently completed the refurbishment of a prestigious new five star hotel, based in Aberdeen’s west end.
R Davidson Painter & Decorator, which is based on the outskirts of Banchory, has finished renovating the accommodation suites for The Chester Hotel, on Queens Road, which is due to open March this year.
The £160,000 contract included complete renovation of the existing 49 bedrooms, the development of the additional six luxury guestrooms to the bedroom suites, as well as hallways and communal areas. The hotel, formally Simpson’s Hotel, is currently undergoing a significant refurbishment and development to become one of the city centre’s first five star hotels.
R Davidson, which is one of the North-east’s longest established home improvement contractors, had a core team of 12 working on the project since May last year, focusing on the refurbishment of the 20 year old building.
Managing director of R Davidson, Trevor Mutch, said: “We are very proud to be involved and working on such an iconic building in Aberdeen. Everyone in the city is looking forward to seeing the big revamp, so to able to provide our skills, workmanship and experience for a local prestigious hotel is a privilege. This was a major refurbishment, which had some challenges and surprises, as it had not been touched since the Simpsons days, so some parts required significant prep work, however our team were able to use the expertise to ensure high quality and that all timescales were met.”
Contracts manager at Burns Construction, Graeme Bruce, said: “With previous experiences of working with R Davidson, we had confidence that they would be more than capable of providing the five star finish required for the Chester project, and in the short timeframe available to do so. On visiting the site and observing the finished article in person, I am sure all would agree that this has been achieved and more.”
The firm, which is based at Brathens Business Park, employs 86 full-time experienced members of staff, specialising in bespoke painting and decorating, ames taping and plastering service. The painting and decorating firm has a wide range of private and commercial clients in Aberdeen and the North-east, and has worked on some of Aberdeen’s most prestigious developments, including the renovation of the city’s Marischal College and new business park Prime Four.
