An Aberdeenshire painting and decorating firm has appointed a new finance director to its board.
R Davidson Painters & Decorators, based in Banchory, Aberdeenshire, has appointed Denise Brown as finance director to support the firm’s continued growth in both private and commercial markets.
Joining the firm in 2002 as office manager, Mrs Brown has more than 25 years’ financial experience, having previously worked for an oil and gas service company where she initially picked up key management skills, as well as overseeing company accounts.
Mrs Brown’s appointment follows R Davidson Painters & Decorators’ sustained growth since the company turned limited in 2012. At the start of 2015, the decorating firm, which specialises in delivering bespoke painting, decorating and ames taping services for the private domestic and commercial markets, relocated to a larger office to support its increasing staff numbers, occupying the ground floor of the Banchory Business Centre 2 (BBC2).
Mrs Brown, finance director at R Davidson Painters & Decorators, said: “I have been with the business for 13 years now and I know the company inside out. Being appointed as a director is really rewarding after all of the hard work I have put into the firm over the years, and it’s great to know that the company values my input.
“To work in such a close-knit team means you have to adapt and oversee various tasks within the business, but my main focus is to use my financial knowledge to support the managing director with potential growth opportunities, and we are committed to implementing a more sound management structure in order to support this growth.”
Managing director and owner of R Davidson Painters & Decorators, Trevor Mutch, said: “Over the past year or so, we’ve witnessed significant demand for our services and so it became clear that we needed to put a stronger management system in place. It was therefore a natural progression for Denise to be appointed as a director, especially after all the hard work and commitment she has put into the company over the years.
“I am confident Denise will go over and above her duty as a director and I look forward to continuing to work together to support the team and the business.”
With a range of major commercial clients, R Davidson Painters & Decorators has worked on some of Aberdeen’s most prestigious developments, including the renovation of the city’s Marischal College.
The firm, which currently has 100 employees based at its headquarters in Banchory, will continue to create further employment opportunities, as it expects to significantly increase staff numbers over the next 12 months.
